The Kheoristsqali River: A Stream in Coastal Adjara

The Kheoristsqali River (მდინარე ხეორისწყალი) is a small river in the Khelvachauri Municipality of Adjara, located in the subtropical coastal zone of southwestern Georgia. It originates on the western slopes of the Meskheti Range and flows a short distance to join the powerful Chorokhi River as a right tributary, just before the Chorokhi empties into the Black Sea. The name translates to “water of Kheori,” suggesting a possible connection to a place or another feature with that name, though it is distinct from the Kheori River in Racha. The river flows through a densely populated area of small villages and agricultural plots, characteristic of the fertile lands surrounding Batumi.
