Hiking in Lagodekhi: A Guide to the Grouse Waterfall
If you’re looking for a different kind of hiking experience without high mountains, the Lagodekhi Protected Areas are an ideal option. Here, you will find a unique, relict forest that is a completely different world.
One of the most popular and accessible routes in this park is the trail to the Grouse Waterfall. This post will help you plan your hike.
Trail Description: From the Visitor Center to the Waterfall
The hike begins at the Lagodekhi Visitor Center, where you must register. The first part of the trail is quite wide and well-maintained. It follows the Shromiskhevi River. You are surrounded by centuries-old trees and dense vegetation, which creates a pleasant coolness.
After about 2 kilometers, the trail narrows and becomes more interesting. A slight ascent begins from here. Along the way, you will cross several wooden bridges and small streams. The trail is well-marked, so the chance of getting lost is minimal.
The Destination: Grouse Waterfall
At the end of the trail, deep in the forest, you will find the Grouse Waterfall. Its height is about 6 meters. The main attraction, along with the waterfall itself, is the environment in which it is located – mossy stones, a dense forest, and fresh air.
This is a good place to rest and have a picnic before you head back.
