The Bridge of Peace

The Bridge of Peace is a modern pedestrian bridge that spans the Mtkvari River in Tbilisi, Georgia. This bow-shaped bridge, made of steel and glass, connects the Old Town with Rike Park and has become a prominent landmark in the city since its opening in 2010.   

The bridge’s unique, contemporary design has drawn both praise and criticism. Its undulating canopy, which some liken to an alien sea creature, creates a striking contrast with the traditional architecture of the Old Town. At night, the bridge is illuminated by thousands of LED lights, making it a spectacular sight from afar.   

While crossing the Bridge of Peace, pedestrians can enjoy panoramic views of Tbilisi, including the Old Town, Narikala Fortress, and the Kartlis Deda monument. The bridge has facilitated easier access between the Old Town and the recreational spaces of Rike Park, making it a popular route for both tourists and locals.
