The Kavtura River (მდინარე კავთურა) is a river in the Kaspi Municipality of Shida Kartli, in central Georgia. As a right tributary of the Mtkvari River, it originates on the northern slopes of the Trialeti Range and flows through a deep, scenic, and historically significant gorge. The Kavtura is most famous for the magnificent Kvatakhevi Monastery Complex, a 12th-13th century monument of Georgian Golden Age architecture, which is beautifully situated in its forested valley.
